Yet another winter storm slams the tri-state area forcing closures

February 26, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

The slow-moving winter storm is bad enough that Mayor Michael Bloomberg has decided to give New York City’s 1.1 million public school students their second snow day this month. Snow days are rare; this is the fourth one in the past six years.

In Manhattan, the snow total in Central Park reached 16.9 inches by 7 a.m. Northern suburbs could get a
two-day total of 16 inches of snow. It was even deeper upstate, in Orange County. Tuxedo has recorded over 26.2 inches, and Washingtonville 25 1/2 inches.

Another 3 to 6 inches of accumulation is possible before the snow tapers off into flurries by this afterno
on and AccuWeather says up to two more inches could fall overnight.

Continental Airlines and its regional partners cancelled about 270 flights at Newark Liberty — more than half its schedule there.  Delta Airlines also cancelled a number of flights out of John F. Kennedy International.

Driving conditions are so that we will have to cancel all local area pickups.  Out of area pickups will continue as planned.

Tri-State Area Pick Ups Cancelled Due To Snow Storm

February 10, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

A blizzard warning is in effect for New York City until 6 a.m. Thursday. The National Weather Service has also issued a blizzard warning for all but the northernmost part of New Jersey until midnight.  The storm could dump about 10 to 16 inches of snow on the metropolitan area and wind gusts of up to 40 mph are expected. The snow will pick up intensity throughout the day, lowering visibility and making travel extremely dangerous. The snow may mix with sleet in the morning but will otherwise be heavy at times throughout the day. AccuWeather says snowfall rates of one to two inches per hour are possible.

Due to the severity of the forecast coupled with the cancellations and delays at area airports, we will not be making any pick ups or deliveries in the tri-state area for Wednesday February 10th.  Normal operations will resume at 6am Thursday February 11th.  Please feel free to call for further information regarding the local closure.  If your materials are located outside the affected area, that work can proceed as normal.

Operation Smile, the leading provider of humanitarian medical missions, selects Ceemless Air to provide them with logistical assistance in getting their medical equipment to and from mission sites all over the world.  Since 1982, Operation Smile volunteers have provided free life-changing reconstructive surgery to over 140,000 children and young adults suffering from cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities.  As part of a larger team, Ceemless Air will handle several remote destinations throughout the world.  “We are extremely proud to be a part of the Operation Smile cause.  They’ve been providing the world with a great service that has been extremely successful, for over 25 years.”  Operation Smile states that efficient and knowledgeable handling of their goods is vital to the success of their missions and Ceemless Air is more than capable of providing such services. “Operation Smile is proud to have Ceemless Air as one of its premier freight forwarders. It is imperative that our cargo reach our missions sites in order for our medical volunteers to operate on hundreds of waiting children. It takes tremendous amounts of planning and coordination to execute our international missions and we are sometimes limited to narrow travel windows and hospitals in remote parts of the world. Ceemless Air has embraced our challenges and have always gotten our cargo where it needs to be, when it needs to be there. We are so very gracious for their service and their team is a pleasure to work with; they are one of the best!”.
